The highlights: Articles on Frank Marshall, Chess during the Early Cold War, The Meter stamps of Chess magazine, and an article about an early female collector, Pauline Hurd Nearing. The Chess on Stamp Study Unit (COSSU) is an active group of chess stamp collectors and enthusiasts.

We are a not-for-profit, official affiliate of both the American Philatelic Society and the American Topical Association. For many of us, this topical branch was a natural intersection of our interest in chess and philately. Of course, many of our members are simply chess enthusiasts, and more than a few love the stamps but do not play chess! We hope that you will consider joining our group.

COSSU was established in 1979 and has been publishing the Chesstamp Review without interruption ever since. Members receive each issue and can place a free advertisement there and on our web site. Members can also take part in the COSSU auction and in the Society Sales Service. Our members have expertise that they are willing to share at no cost. If you are thinking of getting started, perhaps you are offered a rare item, or perhaps you have a collection to sell, contact us. We are here to help all, from beginners to the most experienced collectors!By bringing this coverage to those with tablets and computer access to the Kindle app, it is our hope to encourage more collectors to join, and to provide color images of the contents to our members.Note that our web site,, contains additional articles, a complete inventory of chess stamp issues, and much more.
